Daily Schedule
We have two work periods in the morning, when children are fresh. During this time, children choose from a variety of Montessori materials with activities based on their interest and/or developmental ability.
Because outdoor activity is so important to young children’s development, children spend part of the morning outdoors if the weather allows. Whether they play on one of the playscapes, build with blocks, water flowers, harvest veggies, play make believe, sweep the basketball courts, or decide they want to go back inside to work, this time is valuable.
During some mornings there are also various whole or small group activities such as singing, playing instruments, story time, puppet shows, birthday celebrations, Spanish lessons, etc.
And, during the time from 8-10, healthy snacks and drinks are available for children to serve themselves whenever they like.
At 11:30, children prepare for lunch by washing up, setting their place at their table, and serving their lunch on a plate.
Following a relaxed and calm lunch, children play outside until 12:45 when groups start returning inside for nap time.
At 3 p.m. students awake from nap. The afternoon staff then leads the children in Spanish lessons, craft projects, story time, or outdoor time.
After 4 p.m. students enrolled in our extended day program begin.
