What it is
A foundation built on generosity
Gift Economy in Action is the charitable foundation that supports the mission of La Casa dei Bambini.
Our school itself began through an extraordinary act of generosity. The school's home was given as a gift by an early advocate of the Gift Economy, creating a place where generations of children have been able to learn, grow, and belong.
For more than two decades, our school has been sustained not only by tuition, but also by the generosity of families, teachers, volunteers, and community members who believe that education is a gift that grows when it is shared.
Today, Gift Economy in Action carries that founding vision forward by supporting scholarships, teacher development, classroom improvements, and special projects that enrich the lives of children while preserving the beauty and integrity of the Montessori experience.
Together, we honor the gift that made La Casa possible by extending that same spirit of generosity to future generations.

Where generosity goes
Supporting Children
As of June 2026, La Casa dei Bambini has contributed approximately $960,000 in tuition assistance and scholarship support directly from the school itself. This reflects La Casa's long-standing commitment to making Montessori education accessible.
Supporting Teachers
The Foundation recently funded Montessori teacher training, helping an educator deepen her practice and serve children for years to come.
Supporting the Environment
Current fundraising efforts focus on improving and renewing our outdoor learning spaces so children can continue to learn, explore, and grow safely.

The Spirit of the Gift Economy
We believe that generosity is not measured by the size of a donation.
Some families contribute financially. Others volunteer their time, share professional expertise, offer materials, care for our grounds, or support community events. Every gift strengthens the community.
The Foundation exists as a way for those who feel called to participate in the life of the school beyond tuition alone.
